INDUCTIVE VOLUMETRIC HEATING TECHNOLOGY:
RF devices generate an alternating high-frequency current in tissue. Resistance to this current causes tissue heating and subsequent biological effects—collagen contraction, initiation of new collagen synthesis, and activation of cellular metabolism.
There are two common methods of delivering RF energy to tissue: direct contact between the RF device’s electrodes and the skin surface (conduction) and induction of a high-frequency alternating current in the skin by placing an electrode close to the skin and separating it from the skin with a dielectric (induction). The NEO RF Thermage device utilizes the latter method. The Thermage electrode is a metal plate that does not directly contact the skin, but is separated from it by a polyamide membrane. As a result, only the electromagnetic field generated by the current passing through the electrode penetrates the skin. When an electromagnetic field hits the dermis and subcutaneous fat, currents of the same frequency as NEO RF Thermage are generated. This results in heating under the entire electrode plate integrated into the handpiece.
